Our Story: A Call to Serve
Healing Hearts Honduras began with a single mission trip in 2006 that changed everything. Witnessing both deep poverty and the selfless love of missionaries, our founder felt called to take action. What started as a moment of conviction became a lasting mission to bring hope and healing to the people of Olancho.
Our Mission: Healing Bodies and Hearts
At Healing Hearts Honduras, we believe that no one should be denied medical care due to financial hardship. We support Hospital Santo Hermano Pedro Betancourt and other initiatives that provide life-saving treatment, resources, and dignity to the most vulnerable in Olancho.
The Inspiration Behind the Hospital
The idea for the hospital was born from tragedy—a young boy lost his life while being transported to the nearest medical facility, more than an hour away. Determined to prevent similar losses, compassionate individuals from Honduras and the U.S. joined forces to build a hospital that offers free, high-quality healthcare to all.
Hospital Santo Hermano Pedro Betancourt: A Beacon of Hope
Since opening in 2010, the hospital has provided free medical care to thousands, embodying the Gospel’s call to serve with love and compassion. Rooted in Catholic values, it welcomes all people, regardless of background or circumstance, ensuring no one is left behind.
The Urgent Need: Keeping the Mission Alive
Much of the hospital's medical equipment dates back to 2010. With government funding no longer covering all costs, essential equipment is deteriorating, making it harder to provide the level of care patients need. Without urgent support, this vital mission is at risk.

Kirstin has been actively engaged with the Diocese of Juticalpa since 2006, building partnerships with parishes and supporting community projects. Her dedication to collaboration has made a lasting impact, and now she is taking her commitment even further by launching Healing Hearts Honduras.
Alberto Vallederas, Ph.D.
Alberto is the president of Hospital Hermano Pedro Betancourt since the beginning. He is an active member of the Diocese of Juticalpa and the department of Olancho. Alberto sets an example for others in how to live out their faith through service, education, and outreach
